Feb. 21st - 24th

Hi everyone,

Wow, it is almost the end of February!  The school year is just flying by!  I hope that you all had a great week.  It was lovely to see many of you out at the EQAO Information Night.  I hope that you found the evening helpful.

This past week in class we continued with many of our on-going focuses of the month.

In spelling, we focused on words with the suffix "ly" meaning "every".  We will have our spelling quiz tomorrow so I hope that everyone has had an opportunity to study over the weekend.

This week, we wrote our first journal entry as an early settler making the crossing from Europe to Canada.  We also started to "clear the land" on our tri-rama where we will be visually representing the steps the settlers took when making their homes in upper or lower Canada.  We will be continuing to add to our tri-ramas and our journals over the next two weeks.

To further our understanding of the impact of black culture on our lives we attended the a performance by Unity Charity and our own Eldorado Excellence and Black History month assembly. A.A also presented some independent research he had conducted about the underground railroad.

In Math, we are primarily focused on measurement and will be moving our way into area and perimeter over the next couple of weeks.  We also continue to challenge ourselves with the Mashup Math questions.

Have a great week,
Ms. Sparling
