February 6-10th

Hi everyone,

I hope that you have all had a great week and have had a chance to be outside enjoying the wonderful snowman building snow we had today.  I saw some great snowmen and snow-forts on my walk today.

This week we continued our study of First Nation communities and early settlers in Upper and Lower Canada.  Hopefully you all got to see some of our interviews regarding life in Anishinabek and Mohawk communities.  We have also been reading and writing about some well known figures from the civil rights movement, related to Black History month.

In math, our focus remains on data management.  We read several books displaying data in a variety of ways and recorded what we noticed.  We have analyzed various graphs and created our own.

In spelling, we have changed our focus from compound words to the use of suffixes.  This week we had words ending in "er" and meaning "one who".  Hopefully everyone has studied for Monday's spelling test.

Our posters advertising our Reader's Theatre plays have gone up in strategic positions around the school and have already started to attract our target audiences of Kindergarten and Grade One.

I hope you all have an amazing week!
Ms. Sparling
